Duminica, 6 mai, Luna se va afla la distanta cea mai mica de Pamant (356.953 km) din cursul acestui an. Aceasta pozitie, cunoscuta ca perigeu, face ca diametrul aparent al Lunei sa fie mai mare.
Satelitul natural al Pamantului va putea fi observat cu instrumente astronomice la Observatorul Astronomic, intre orele 21-23.
Se vor vedea cu luneta sau telescopul si planetele Venus, Marte si Saturn.
Ca un preambul, la ora 20 se va tine in cupola Planetariului o demonstratie in care se va prezenta aspectul cerului pentru luna mai.

Like a window permanently open to the sky, the Planetarium in Constanţa resembles a "beacon" on the Black Sea coast. The first public objective of this type in the country was set up in the year when man could "touch" the moon by the foot for the first time (1969), the Planetarium reveal today the sky-mysteries so hard to see.

În seara de 15 spre 16 iunie, cerul la Constanţa a fost senin şi s-a putut vedea prima eclipsǎ totalǎ de Luna a anului 2011. A doua eclipsǎ vizibilǎ la noi în ţarǎ fiind pe 10 decembrie 2011.
